BaoBei Kitchen
Questions, bugs and requests all reach the same person, who also wrote the app.
Common questions
- How do I add a recipe?
- Tap + on the Recipes tab. You can write one from scratch, paste a link from a recipe site and let the app pull out the ingredients, steps and nutrition, or scan a page from a cookbook with the camera.
- How do I plan my meals?
- On the Meal Plan tab, tap any slot — breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack — and pick a recipe. Week view gives you the overview; day view gives you one day at a time with cooking times and what is already shopped for.
- How do I build a grocery list?
- Add ingredients from any recipe, or bulk-add from the meal plan using the cart button. Duplicate ingredients are merged, quantities are combined, and everything is grouped by aisle category.
- How do I send my list to Reminders?
- On the Grocery List tab, use the export button to send the list to Apple Reminders. You can add to an existing list or create a new one.
- Does my data sync between devices?
- Yes. If you are signed in to iCloud, your recipes, plans, lists and photos sync through your own iCloud account and appear on your other Apple devices. Nothing syncs if you are signed out, and the app still works fully offline.
- Is my data backed up?
- Your iCloud copy is your backup, and it is included in your device backup as well. BaoBei Labs cannot read either one.
- How does sharing a recipe work?
- Share Recipe creates a link that opens the recipe in BaoBei Kitchen, or on a web page if the person does not have the app. The link stops working after 30 days. Only that one recipe is shared, and only when you choose to share it.
- How do I scale a recipe?
- Change the serving count on the recipe and the ingredient quantities scale with it, including fractions. If the recipe is already on your grocery list, the list can be updated to match.
Reporting a problem
Email what happened, what you expected, and your iPhone model and iOS version. A screenshot helps more than anything else. If the app closed unexpectedly, say roughly when — crash reports arrive separately and the timing is what ties the two together.
Privacy
